Jackpot Bingo supports Duncanville Police

Duncanville—A long-standing partnership between the Duncanville Police Department and Jackpot Bingo was celebrated recently when the charity bingo hall received a certificate of appreciation recognizing years of support for the department and its officers.
The recognition highlights a relationship that has helped fund employee programs, community events, training opportunities and equipment purchases while strengthening ties between law enforcement and the community.
The department hosted a private event for officers at Billy Bob’s.
“In my 28 years with the Duncanville Police Department, it was the most attended and most successful banquet I have ever seen,” Chief Matt Stogner said. “The banquet was held at a beautiful venue, there were great door prizes, and everyone had a wonderful time.
“It gave us an opportunity to celebrate and recognize our employees in a way that would not have been possible without the support of community partners like Jackpot Bingo. Their continued investment in the Duncanville Police Department and its employees is greatly appreciated.”
A Partnership Built Over Decades
The local bingo parlor has supported the DPD for as long as manager Malissa McMahon can recall.
“They're just the best,” McMahon said. “Pretty much anything they ask for, I try to make sure they get. One of the cops, we paid for him to go do some extra schooling. We celebrate them when they make rank. We always make sure we get them a cake. It feels amazing that we have such a mutual respect for each other.”
DPD officers regularly provide security at the bingo hall, and McMahon said she has gotten to know many of them personally over the last 22 years. Like family, she’s ready to provide support at a moment’s notice.
After receiving a text from an assistant police chief that department leadership would be visiting the parlor on short notice, McMahon feared she was in trouble. Instead, DPD awarded Jackpot Bingo a certificate of appreciation for the many things it has done for the department.
Supporting Public Safety
Support from the organizations goes beyond events like Santa Cop and the annual firetruck pull. Jackpot Bingo goes above and beyond in ensuring the department and its officers are equipped and supported.
“Our police facility was built in the mid-80s and has become too small to accommodate larger testing events,” Stogner said. “It is not uncommon for us to have over 50 applicants participate in a hiring process at one time. Recognizing this need, Jackpot Bingo graciously opened its doors and allowed us to use its facility to conduct testing events, providing a spacious environment that supports our efforts to recruit the next generation of police officers.”
Filling Critical Gaps
The bingo parlor has helped replace radar detectors, bought insurance for baseball tournaments, provided jerseys and more.
“While the Duncanville Police Department operates with an approved annual budget, there are times when funding is limited and certain needs cannot be fully addressed,” Stogner said. “Budget constraints, rising costs, and unforeseen circumstances can result in projects, equipment purchases, employee recognition programs, or community outreach initiatives being delayed or removed from the budget altogether.
“Much like a household budget, unexpected expenses can arise that were not anticipated during the budgeting process. When those situations occur, community partners can play a critical role in helping bridge the gap. Charity bingo organizations, such as Jackpot Bingo, provide valuable support by funding initiatives and needs that may otherwise go unmet. Their contributions help ensure the department can continue serving the community effectively while also supporting programs that enhance employee morale, community engagement, and public safety.”
Stogner said collaboration with local businesses and organizations results in better community policing. He credits connections like these with making Duncanville a better place to live, work and raise a family and looks forward to continuing the partnership for years to come.
A healthy Dallas County requires great community news.
