Temporary flight restriction for drones
September 12, 2025
Irving—The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction for drones in the Las Colinas area near Lake Carolyn on Saturday, Sept. 13, during the Red Bull Flugtag event.
The FAA maintains the safety and efficiency of our National Airspace System. As with cars on the road, there are rules that cover aircraft in the sky to ensure safety. In special circumstances, the FAA may temporarily restrict access to certain designated areas of our airspace, much in the same way a city or state may block off access to a street when necessary.
Only drone operators with an approved FAA waiver are authorized to fly in this area during the restriction. Unauthorized drone flights could result in fines or certificate suspension.
