One dead in crash on Mayfield Road

Grand Prairie—The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred late Sunday night in the 800 block of Mayfield Road.

According to police, the collision happened at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 4 when the driver of a Toyota passenger car, traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle and struck a power pole.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Grand Prairie Fire Department medics. One passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. A second passenger was not injured.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
