Arlington—The Dallas Cowboys Foundations, the charitable wing of the five-time Super Bowl Champion franchise, presented an $11,000 grant to the Cedar Hill ISD Girls Flag Football Program.

“The Cedar Hill ISD is incredibly grateful to the Dallas Cowboys Foundations and the Jones Family for this amazing opportunity,” Cedar Hill ISD Superintendent Dr. Gerald Hudson said. “Our scholars were very excited to compete in flag football last year, and this experience takes the sport to a whole new level.”

The program was announced on Saturday, Mar. 1, to align with the first day of Women's History Month. Cowboys’ co-owner Charlotte Jones, NFL vice president of Flag Football Stephanie Kwok and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott were on hand for the press conference in Arlington. The event featured a jersey reveal by several teams.

The hope is that flag football will eventually become a UIL-sanctioned sport. The Cowboys are collaborating with the other 31 franchises in the NFL to promote girls' Flag Football.

CHISD's Flag Football League started last spring as an intramural league.

This spring will feature interscholastic competition with 53 other teams from throughout the Metroplex, beginning with a preseason kickoff event at The Star/Ford Center in Frisco on Mar. 22.

The first two weeks of competition will take place at The Star/Ford Center on Mar. 29 and Apr. 5, respectively.

Cedar Hill will host on Apr. 12, followed by a bye week for Easter on Apr. 19.

The competition will return to The Star/Ford Center for Apr. 26, followed by Crowley ISD for May 3.

Playoffs will begin at Dallas ISD’s Kincaid Stadium the week of May 10, followed by a Championship Game on May 22 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
