Grand Prairie—Grand Prairie's Prairie Paws Adoption Center celebrated its 21st anniversary with a community event on Sept. 21.

The celebration featured pet adoptions, educational workshops, over 60 vendors, and 12 animal rescue organizations, including the North Texas Reptile Rescue and Second Chance Dog Rescue.

Angellee Vincent, the shelter's volunteer and events coordinator, said that typically, 90 percent or more of the pets housed with Prairie Paws find their forever homes.

"The more that we [animal shelters and rescues] work together, the more beneficial it will be for all the animals," Vincent said. "We ironically did 21 adoptions for the shelter.

“This year turned out as good as last year's event. We had more attendees, and instead of bounce houses, we had a foam party and a DJ. It was a blast."
