Police investigate traffic fatality

Grand Prairie—The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred today, Aug. 30, in the 4100 block of East Main Street. 

At approximately 12 a.m., Grand Prairie 911 received multiple calls of a person sitting in the roadway who was subsequently struck by a passing motorist. 

The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

Based on witness accounts, investigators suspect the deceased was in mental distress and intentionally sat in the roadway to be struck. 

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.  

No arrests were made. 

This collision remains under investigation.
