Failure to yield leads to traffic fatality

Grand Prairie—The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred at Highway 287 and Lakeview on Thursday, Feb. 1.

At 5:45 a.m., a Ford SUV traveling on Lakeview attempted to cross southbound Hwy 287, failing to yield the right of way to a semi-tractor trailer traveling south on 287, causing a collision.

The driver of the Ford, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

There were no other passengers in the Ford and the driver of the semi-tractor trailer did not sustain any injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Ellis County Justice of the Peace once the next of kin has been notified.

This collision remains under investigation.
